Do Not Worry About Your Life

Excerpt

Jesus doesn’t want you to live worrying about what to eat, drink and wear. Why? Because it’ll make you think so shallowly of yourself and put your life in survival mode. Meanwhile, He called you to impact many.

Worry, anxiety and fear, three of them combined as one, are some of the most predominant emotions people battle with every single day. Sometimes, I am amazed at how high the statistics about depressed people are when I search about it on the internet. People wearing smiles on their faces are just a covering of the mess they are dealing with on the inside. Nobody wants to have a less-than-the-best life. But unfortunately, that is it for many. I am not an exception to this because I do have my fair share of life struggles. But God, who lives forever more, has not forsaken any of His children. Today, I want to write about how not to worry about your life even as you live. Read on, and I hope you’ll be blessed.

Look at the birds of the air

When Jesus told people not to worry about their lives, guess the example He raised to explain the point He wanted to emphasise. Birds! He said in Matthew 6:26 (NKJV) that,

“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

Birds aren’t humans to practice sowing and reaping, a justifiable principle written in scripture (see Genesis 8:22) that can make people get food to eat when applied to farming. However, the Lord feeds these creatures. Of all the creatures God created, human beings are the most valuable among them all. So, if you are fortunate to be a human being, what makes you think you are invaluable before God? No! Don’t think like that. It doesn’t matter how much the population of this world rises to, God still cares about you. Can you personalise this love from Him? Many people who doubt themselves before God aren’t very conscious of His love for them. Don’t be in that number.

God is able to meet all your needs

Everybody has needs, and God knows it. Jesus mentioned that you should not worry about what to eat, drink and wear. But doesn’t He know that the needs of humans, especially in this generation, will outweigh these? Yes, Jesus did. He never makes mistakes. He said that because that is the basic need for almost everybody on this earth, whether a Christian or not. The pagans (unbelievers) are notable for working hard to provide these things for themselves. But Jesus doesn’t want you to live like that. Why? Because it’ll make you think so shallowly of yourself and put your life in survival mode. Meanwhile, He called you to impact many.

Seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness

Instead of letting your basic needs dominate your thoughts, do what Jesus said right after that quote. That is, seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness (see Matthew 6:34). Yes, I am aware that this is a popular scripture. But have you sat down to think through it?

2 Corinthians 5:21 says that you are God’s righteousness. Then, in Luke 17:21, Jesus said the kingdom of God is in you. That means what Jesus meant when He said you are to seek God’s kingdom, and His righteousness is yourself— your real you on the inside. Once you are clear about your identity crises, worrying about your life will end. Why? You will become too busy doing what you love to do, and basic things like food, water, and clothing won’t be a subject of worry in your mind.

Trust God

Since the day God created man, He has never failed anybody. He will never fail you. But you need to trust in Him and have faith that He will perfect every area of your life with time. Don’t give up, dear one. The Lord is with you.

You are a blessing!
