When two people decide to build a relationship together, many factors come into play. Personality, interests, and life circumstances all influence how two individuals relate to one another. However, for Christians, there is one foundation that should always stand above the rest – faith in Jesus Christ.
The Bible reminds us in 2 Corinthians 6:14 that we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. This principle is not meant to restrict our lives but to protect the spiritual direction of our relationships. When two people are unified in their faith and relationship with Jesus, they are far more likely to pursue the same spiritual goals and encourage one another in their walk with God.
A Relationship That Points Both People Toward Christ
One of the greatest blessings of a Christ-centred relationship is the ability to grow spiritually together. When both individuals are committed to following Christ, prayer becomes a natural part of their life together. Reading scripture, attending church, and seeking God’s guidance for important decisions become shared experiences rather than individual responsibilities.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 reminds us that a cord of three strands is not quickly broken. In Christian relationships, that third strand is God Himself. Without that foundation, relationships can easily become centred only on personal desires or temporary emotions. But when Christ comes first, couples are continually reminded of the purpose God has for their lives.
While technology itself cannot build a strong relationship, it can create opportunities for believers to meet others who desire the same Christ-centred foundation.
Using Modern Tools While Keeping Biblical Principles
In earlier generations, many Christian couples met through church communities or family connections. Today, however, the internet has created new ways for believers to meet one another across cities and even across countries.
Some Christians now use platforms designed specifically to help believers connect with others who share their faith. One example is SALT, a Christian dating app created to help Christians meet others who take their faith seriously. The platform allows users to highlight their beliefs, interests, and personality traits within their profiles so that conversations begin with a clearer understanding of shared values.
Features such as Online Now help users see who is currently active, while global search makes it possible to connect with Christians in different countries. The app also hosts live audio discussions known as Table events, where people gather to talk about faith, relationships, and everyday life.

Seeking God First in Every Relationship
Ultimately, no app or platform can replace the importance of seeking God’s guidance in relationships.
Matthew 6:33 reminds believers to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. When that becomes the priority, every other aspect of life begins to align with God’s purpose.
If a relationship is built on shared faith, humility before God, and a desire to follow Christ faithfully, it will stand on a foundation that is far stronger than any temporary attraction.
And when two believers walk together in that direction, they not only strengthen each other but also become a testimony of God’s grace to the world.
