Since the Bible never changes and is still effective, every principle written therein applies to us today. In today’s study scripture release, I want to talk about the depravity of false teachers from 2 Peter 2:12-14. Let’s dive in.

The Epistle of 2nd Peter is marked as a very disciplining book in the Bible. Since the day I started studying it intently, I have seen how much God means to punish false preachers and prophets, way back from the early church generation to recent times. Since the Bible never changes and is still effective, every principle written therein applies to us today. In today’s study scripture release, I want to talk about the depravity of false teachers from 2 Peter 2:12-14. Let’s dive in.

Verse 12

“But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption,” – 2 Peter 2:12 (NKJV)

If you skimmed through this verse, take a closer look at it again. God’s Word is saying that false teachers are like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed. Do you know what a brute beast is? It is a strange creature that lacks intelligence, sensitivity, or compassion. That means false teachers of the Word of God are people who don’t deserve a listening ear. Why? Because eventually, they will be caught and destroyed.

Such people speak evil of the things (the works of God) they don’t comprehend because their spiritual eye is closed from godly revelation. Against such people, there will be a perishing in their lives if they continue to live in corrupt ways.

Verse 13

“and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you,” – 2 Peter 2:13 (NKJV)

Verse 13 continues to enumerate the punishment that will befall these false teachers. Hmm. The Bible says they will receive the wages of unrighteousness as those who count it a pleasure to carouse (drink and make merry) in the daytime. That means that since such people are excited about deceiving people, they will be rewarded for their evil deeds. If you are in a ministry where sound doctrine isn’t preached, advise yourself to leave before you get more deceived by them.

Verse 14

“having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children.” – 2 Peter 2:14 (NKJV)

Another notable characteristic of false teachers is that they practice adultery. By saying that, I don’t mean marital adultery, although that can also happen. I’m talking about spiritual adultery, where people are no longer committed to God but rather follow lustful desires coming from the world, affecting their growth in the faith. Run from such people because if you don’t, their destructive influence on your life can adversely affect you.

Shalom!
