One time, I was having a chat with a friend who got prayed for by a prophet in an all-night meeting months ago. He confirmed to me that he had a lot of plans in life, and if care is not taken, he might neglect even to get little things necessary to his everyday life. Later, I counselled him that plans are good and having a vision is essential in life. Why? At least, it gives a person’s life a sense of purpose and direction. However, being consumed by the plans can be problematic if there is no spirit of patience, especially for Christians. Today, that advice goes to you. I hope this article will bless you.
There is a race set before you
Every believer has to know that Christ’s mission for a person’s life transcends beyond getting saved. It’s about fulfilling divine purpose too. And for that reason, you must understand that God has already marked out your life trajectory before you even get born again. Hebrews 12:1 [(NKJV) Boldface Mine] confirms this. It says,
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,”
So, from the bolded part of the scripture, it’s quite clear that your life trajectory has already been programmed by God. That means that you don’t own your life; God is the One who chooses to do what He wants with it through you. However, you must submit to Him.
Plans are good, and having a vision is essential in life. Why? At least, it gives a person’s life a sense of purpose and direction. However, being consumed by plans can be problematic if there is no spirit of patience, especially for Christians.
Life is in seasons
Sometimes, believers forget that even though God is an expert in giving us divine direction, He has also demarcated each person’s life into seasons in a unique way. Why? Because, again, every person’s race of faith is different. So, how God has demarcated your life’s seasons is different from mine, and that’s okay. You will quit comparing yourself to others when you understand this very well.
Since life is in seasons, and there is a time to every purpose under heaven (see Ecclesiastes 3:1), there is a necessity to brace yourself up with the spirit of patience, especially in whatever vision God gives you. This word goes especially to men, who, according to science and research, are more project-driven in life. You cannot get everything you dream of getting right the minute you think about it. Just because God told you about setting up an organisation doesn’t mean it’s time to start it. How well are you prepared to enter that dimension of your life? Mind you, for you to succeed in any area of your life, you need wisdom to get you there and sustain you there. Many people’s marriages and businesses have been crushed because they failed to prepare before entering into it. Don’t let that be said of you.
Run your race with endurance
Anytime the word “endurance” is mentioned in relation to race, it usually means long-suffering or staying power. You are going to encounter challenges in life. Oh yes, you will. You’ll not get everything as flashy as you want. Many rich people have problems money can’t solve. So, by saying that you will run into problems, I don’t only refer to financial constraints. But in the face of all the challenges, remember that God is with you. Avoid worrying about tomorrow, and do as much as you can do each day that will fulfil even a little portion of what God has called you to do.
You are a blessing!
