If there were one crucial thing I can say about vision, I would say that it takes a lot of work behind the scenes to make it work. Have you seen many startups fail within one year of each one’s inception? Have you sat down to think about why this happens? Here’s the answer. Many people start something with the end in mind but don’t really analyse what it takes to reach that dream. They start, and they give up when they get overwhelmed by the challenges. Lord have mercy. In this article, I want to explain what it takes to stay on course concerning what God has called you to do.
Know and be conscious of your purpose
I got the inspiration to pen down this article when I read Daniel 2:48-49. In that verse, Daniel solved a tough problem that King Nebuchadnezzar had caused, and that made the king decide to promote him to become the ruler over the entire province of Babylon and the boss of all the kingdom’s wise men. That promotion didn’t move Daniel. He knew that the responsibilities that would come with it would make him have less time for God. So, guess what he did? He requested that the king appoint his friends — Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego- to be administrators over the province of Babylon while he remained at the royal court. Think about that! If it were today, greedy people, including some believers in Christ, wouldn’t have given that position to others. They would have stayed there and enjoyed all the money they would keep earning. Hmm!
Daniel knew his purpose as a prophet. That is why secular promotions didn’t move him. In the same way, if you know why God has brought you here on Earth and what you must do, you will definitely know that some paths are wrong to take. It protected Daniel, and it will protect you if you implement this doctrine firmly in your life.

Not all open doors are from the Lord
You see, Daniel got promoted. But he rejected that offer to become a ruler over Babylon, even though it was a glorious place. In the same way, not all open doors are from the Lord. Some are from the devil aimed at thwarting you from your destiny as the Lord had ordained for you. Think about this! If Daniel took up that position, who would have prayed to know that the time for Israel’s exile in Babylon was up (70 years)?
If you know why God has brought you here on Earth and what you must do, you will definitely know that some paths are wrong to take.

Live a focused life with intentionality
Many people are already distracted in life. So, to tell them to be focused is quite problematic for them. Thankfully, it’s possible to live this kind of lifestyle only after you have discovered your purpose and followed suit. God is good and wants your life to be more than ordinary. Live focused, and don’t let what others do which are not part of your divine agenda affect you. Reject some offers to stay with God’s vision.
You are a blessing!
