How has life been since growing up in an internet-driven age? Many things are accessible online faster these days. But despite that, you may have noticed that wrong information spreads faster than credible ones. Right? Have you ever asked yourself why these things happen? It’s not normal. There is an evil spirit behind such occurrences. And even more, there are prophecies in scripture that tell us that there will be a famine of hearing the words of the Lord (right information) these days. Amos 8:11-12 is one of the scriptures that confirm this. Let’s read it:
[11] “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord GOD,
Amos 8:11-12 (NKJV)
“That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the LORD.
[12] They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD,
But shall not find it.”
During the writing of the book of Amos, Israel was divided. They were not serving the Lord and were also separated from Judah. So the prophet heard God’s judgment on them and proclaimed it. But how does it apply to us today?
How prophecy shapes our expectations
In life, everybody has some expectations. Right? If you know what is ahead of you, you’ll probably not worry about your current circumstances because the great things in your life are unfolding in the process. So, for Amos to release these judgment words on Israel, it proved that they were on a road to destruction because of their wickedness and idolatry. That same thing Israel was doing is also happening in this generation.
These days, idolatry has gone beyond bowing to graven images. It has become serving anything at all while leaving God aside as your first place in life. So, for some people, serving sin has become their passion, and as a result, they even disregard the promptings of the Holy Spirit to indulge in lustful acts. What a tragedy!
Many will get distracted, and because of that, their spiritual discernment between good and evil will be wrong. Guard your life from deception and study the Bible.

Scarcity of hearing sound doctrine teaching
Because the world is under constant development, there will be new inventions that will try to take away the people of God’s allegiance. And because of that, there shall be a scarcity of hearing sound doctrine teaching, not because they won’t be available, but because many won’t listen to such people. As a pastor, you must know this well so that visibility doesn’t deceive you.
Know God for yourself
As for distractions in your walk with God, they will keep increasing. But you must know God for yourself. Many will get distracted, and because of that, their spiritual discernment between good and evil will be wrong. Guard your life from deception and study the Bible.
