I will always say that Genesis is my favourite book in the Bible, not because I am discriminative of it concerning other books. There is something unique about that book that fascinates me whenever I pick up my Bible to read it. God gives me new revelations every time I read that book, and I felt it would be selfish to keep it to myself while there are people like you who need to be well-ministered with the revelations. Today, I am taking on Genesis 1:1 (KJV), where the Bible says,
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
In the beginning …
What comes to mind when you read this phrase in the first line of the Bible? Questions pop up, like “Did God have a beginning,” and “who is God”? Well, such questions are going to be answered here.
The word “beginning” used in Genesis 1:1 means ‘beginning’ or ‘first.’ So, the Bible says that there was God before anything existed. And because God has no past, nobody, including you and me, can trace when He started existing. For the atheists out there questioning this, let me tell you that you are not going to get any reasonable answer to justify when God began existing. However, there is one principle I can help you accept: that there is God. It’s called the principle of evidence. How do you know you are alive? When you can breathe. Right? So, if you want to know whether there is God or not, watch what He does. His wondrous works testify of His existence. Don’t be fooled, dear one. There is God, and there is nothing you can do against it. In fact, the earlier you accept this and come to Him, the better for you.
How do you know you are alive? When you can breathe. Right? So, if you want to know whether there is God or not, watch what He does. His wondrous works testify of His existence.

… God created the heaven and the earth.
So, in the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. Yes, some Bible versions use the word “heavens” with “s” at the end of the “heaven” instead of the ordinary word. But that doesn’t change what the Bible means in that scripture. From the Biblical Concordance, the word “heaven” used in Genesis 1:1 refers to the skies. The word “earth” also means habitable ground.
So, you see how simple it is. The scripture is simply saying that before time began, God created stable skies and habitable ground, although there were no human beings on that earth God created. That means the first Earth God created is not the same Earth we exist today, and I’ll discuss why that is true in the next release of this category of articles.
You are a blessing!
