byApostle John is one of Jesus’ disciples, whom many people know as the one Jesus loved. He wrote four books in the New Testament. That is, the gospel according to John and the three epistles of John that precede the book of Revelation. In this new study scripture series, we will delve deeper into the 1st Epistle of John. Today, we will take on four scriptures from the beginning of that epistle. I hope you are ready. Let’s take a look at the scripture.
[1] “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life—[2] the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us—[3] that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. [4] And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.”

Verse 1
If you take a critical look at the scripture above, you’ll realise that the Apostle John was speaking about Jesus Christ. He said that He (Jesus) was from the beginning, confirming the truth that Jesus existed long before He appeared on earth as God’s incarnate Word. John directly heard Jesus speak, saw Him, looked upon Him and touched Him. Jesus is indeed the Word of life.
Verse 2
Here’s the interesting part. Jesus, the incarnate Word of God, was manifested physically. And when He came, people saw Him. John was one of those who saw Him. That is why His epistles are written in a tone that depicts someone experiencing Jesus Christ, live and coloured. Eternal life, which was with the Father, is now manifest in us. Meaning, Jesus is the embodiment of eternal life. That is why nobody can be saved without Jesus. In Him is life, and His life is the light of men (see John 1:4). Verse 3-4
“that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. [4] And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.”

Now, after John had described Jesus, he switched attention to talk about people experiencing the life we now have in Jesus.
