We Have Been Given All Things Pertaining unto Life and Godliness – 2 Peter 1 v 3-4

In the previous study-scripture article, I had the honour to delve into the profound verses penned by Peter, which serve as an introduction to his epistle for believers worldwide, including us. Today, with the grace of God, I continue our journey with 2 Peter 1:3-4, a scripture that declares we have been given all things pertaining unto life and godliness. Let’s embark on this journey, and I pray it will bring a significant revelation to your life.

Verse 3

“as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,”

2 Peter 1:3 (NKJV)

It’s evident from this scripture that God, in His mighty power, has bestowed upon each of His children everything they need for life and godliness. This is an incredible truth, isn’t it? Yet, why do many believers find life challenging? It’s because there’s a process to access the provisions God has made. You possess them, but to see them manifest, you must adhere to the second part of the scripture. It states, ‘… through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.’

Let’s reiterate this point: The manifestation of all things in your life is not solely because you are saved but because you are growing in the knowledge of God. I’ve observed this in my life and others as well. Knowing God is crucial. Many struggling believers often neglect daily communion with God, choosing instead to worry and toil, which is not beneficial.

Did you know that praying for God to show you what to do in life will shield you from doing unnecessary things with your life? Did you know that spending time to know God’s Word will give you peace of mind because you’ll have the rhēma (Word) you need for situations in life? Never underestimate the power of knowing God intimately. It is very advantageous for your life.

Never underestimate the power of knowing God intimately. It is very advantageous for your life.

Verse 4

“by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

2 Peter 1:4 (NKJV)

Now that you know that you’ll see the manifestation of all the things God has given you for your life and godliness through divine knowledge, what next? That is where God’s promises come in. The Bible says these promises are so much and precious. So the things God has given you are in the realm of the Spirit and will be manifested one after the other. That is what I call destiny fulfilment in a gradual way.

Dear friend, you don’t need to live always thinking about when God will fulfil His promises in Your life. Scripture says, “… partake in the divine nature.” In other words, spend time having consistent fellowship with the Lord, and He will fulfil His promises in your life. That’s it.

Living with a focus on God’s promises and not on God can cause anxiety in your life because of impatience. And let me warn you about this. The devil likes creating fake scenes of God’s promises to test your patience. Once you follow him, you’ll make God’s path for your destiny longer. Do not let the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life consume you.

May God help you.
