As a child of God, let it be in your consciousness that the fact that you’re born again means you’re odd. And that oddness isn’t because of anything wrong you’ve done; it’s just because God has chosen you. For that sake, you will be persecuted. But when it happens, instead of bowing down in shame, praise God for bearing Christ’s sufferings in your body.
We children of God, were called not just to believe in Jesus but also to suffer for his sake (see Philippians 1:29). That means it’s erroneous to think there’s no suffering for you when you come to Christ. There is, but since Jesus becomes the author and finisher of your faith, no situation will be able to weigh you down in life.
Do not forget that God’s Word remains true despite the changing things in the world. If you ever lose consciousness of this, at least remind yourself how old the Bible is, yet it has never faded or lost impact.
It’s understandable that because knowledge has increased in this generation, the young generation may be more exposed to much more information and light from scripture. But God’s word says the younger should submit to the elder. Why? Because such a grown man may have experiences in life the young generation doesn’t have. So, for the young to listen to them, they could avoid certain mistakes. However, no young person can obey this scripture if one doesn’t clothe oneself in humility. Here’s how submission and humility go hand-in-hand.
God, in His mighty power, has bestowed upon each of His children everything they need for life and godliness. This is an incredible truth, isn’t it? Yet, why do many believers find life challenging? It’s because there’s a process to access the provisions God has made. Delve deeper in this study.
In 1 Peter 1:22-25 NKJV, the Apostle Peter teaches about how we can love one another fervently with a pure heart in Christ. As children of God, this is possible, but requires spiritual maturity.
Receiving a calling in Christ is not enough. Neither is it enough to know you have been elected by grace (as in, God has chosen you in Christ – see Ephesians 1:4). You need diligence to ensure you reach the high calling God has destined you to get.
From 1 Peter 2:13 – 3:7, the Apostle Peter expounded on the various types of submissions we believers must give to one another. As you focus on growing spiritually in the Lord, you’ll draw near Jesus. And by that, your inner man will be built up to become all that God created you to be and do.
Your human calculations of how God works will never be able to predict all of God’s doings in your life accurately. Some of the things you pray for may take longer than you imagined. Other times, God may fulfill a promise He made to you quite faster than you can imagine. Don’t limit God by your human calculations.
