God’s Two Ever-Continuing Desires

Did you know that God has desires? He created man in His own image and likeness (Genesis 1:26). So if we have heart desires, it’s not so surprising. Right? However, we all know that some desires are more precious and pressing than others.

For example, some ladies have an intense desire to get married at a certain age in their lives. But momentarily, one might feel hungry one evening. A lady of this category can decide to cook, eat and satisfy her hunger. But even after eating, that desire to get married still stays. That means some desires aren’t met in day-to-day activities. They are deep-seated within the corridors of the heart, so much so that they will only be met after something specific has happened or continues to happen in life. God has such desires too. They are two, and all are written in 1 Timothy 2:4. See the scripture below.

“who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

1 Timothy 2:4 (NKJV)

In the above verse is the revelation of God’s two ever-continuing desires. Now, I say “ever-continuing” because the verb “desires” used in the scripture is in the present tense. That implies those two desires in God will never subside until everyone gets saved and discipled to know Him.

Desire 1 – God wants all men to be saved

Have you read Titus 2:11 before? In that verse, the Word says,

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,”

Titus 2:11 (NKJV)

The dimension of God’s grace responsible for administering salvation to souls is available to all men. That means no human is excluded from the salvation agenda of Jesus. And this disproves those who argue that “If God knows some people will go to hell, why did He create them?” Because of this verse (Titus 2:11), it’s clear that no evil proceeds from God. He wants everyone to be saved. That’s where usual missions and crusades are held by God-inspired ministries frequently, mainly to get people to know Jesus.

No human is excluded from the salvation agenda of Jesus.

Desire 2 – He wants all men to come unto the knowledge of the truth

Secondly, God wants all men to be discipled in Christ till each attains their divine full measure in all life endeavours. This one comes after a person has been saved, not before.

Because of the fall, there are several things in disorder in the world. It is written clearly in the Word that this world is evil (see Galatians 1:4, 1 John 5:19). Hence, because of that, the Truth – Jesus (John 14:6), is missing in several areas of many lives. Why? Because many people don’t know the chief mandate of Jesus – that is, to fill all things (Ephesians 4:10)

It’s only the Truth, the gospel of Jesus Christ, that is useable to transform lives.

“To fill all things” means Christ wants to be expressed in every area of our lives – both personally and corporately. Evil antichristic systems must be changed. Wrong mindsets and strongholds formed in people’s heads due to the atrocities of life must be destroyed. Destructive ways of living must cease. But all these things cannot be done if people lack the right knowledge – the Truth of God’s Word. Why? Because it’s only the Truth, the gospel of Jesus Christ, that is useable to transform lives. So all these existent Christian organisations and those that’d be coming up, birthed by God through a yielded vessel of His kingdom, are to join the global Church, the body of Christ, to fulfil this mission of Jesus.

Friend, God cares for you. He loves you so much to leave your life messy. That’s why these desires never subside in Him. Submit to Him today; He wishes to do you good beyond human comprehension.
